Carbon Steel EN-9, often referred to as 070M55, is a medium carbon steel that contains around 0.50–0.60% carbon and 0.70–1.00% manganese, along with small amounts of silicon and sulfur. EN-9 bars boast a tensile strength between 600 to 850 MPa and a Brinell hardness ranging from 201 to 255 HB. This steel offers excellent wear resistance and moderate toughness, and it can be flame or induction hardened to enhance surface hardness. These mechanical properties make EN-9 an excellent choice for components that need more strength than mild steel while still being easy to machine and heat-treat.
